The Orcas Island Recreation Program is having a fundraising dinner on Thursday, November 5th to go towards year-round programs for kids.
Orcas Rec Coordinator Linda Sheridan says, “Bring the whole family out for a delicious dinner at Lulu’s!
“Just by purchasing tickets you will help support meaningful recreational opportunities for kids such as field trips, sports (including Youth Soccer), music, children’s theater, nature programs, and art classes. ”
Due to county budget shortfalls, the Orcas Rec Program took a 100% cut in its funding, set at the beginning of the year at $16,000. In order to keep its doors open, Orcas Rec is depending on fundraisers like the Nov. 5 event, as well as private donations to keep its doors open.
Dinner and a silent auction will take place at LuLu’s Pasta Rustica in Eastsound with open seating from 5 to 9 p.m. Cost for the dinner is $17, and includes house salad, pasta entrée (vegetarian or meat), bread, and a non-alcoholic beverage. Alcoholic beverages will be available at an extra charge.
Tickets are available at Darvill’s, and at the Orcas Island Recreation Program office (in the Senior Center noon-4:30), or call Orcas Rec at 376-5339 to reserve your seating time.
Sheridan says, “Please support Orcas Rec by coming to this event. We hope to see you there!”
