Orcas Adventist Fellowship will sponsors a two-day “Love & Logic” parenting class featuring Phyllis Radu, a Love & Logic Parent and Teacher facilitator from Spokane, Wash. The classes will be held at Orcas Christian School on Friday, Dec. 10 from 6 to 8 p.m. and on Saturday, Dec. 11, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.,with a two-hour lunch break.
The Love & Logic Institute provides the classes designed to help parents feel more confident, have more fun parenting, and feel more relaxed at the end of the day. Some of problems dealt with in classes are:
- How do I get my kids out of bed in time to catch the school bus?
- How can I stop my children from bickering and fighting?’How do I get my children to help with the chores without an argument?
- Is there a way to discipline my toddler in public without creating a scene?
- How can I get my teenage daughter to come home at the agreed-upon time?
The seminar is for parents, grandparents, teachers, caregivers and those involved with children of all ages, and will focus on the topics:
- Raising Responsible Kids with the Love & Logic Formula
- ‘C’ Stands for Control That’s Shared
- The Responsible Parent
- ‘O’ is for Ownership of the Problem and ‘L’ stands for Let Empathy and Consequences Do the Teaching.

I first saw this group on PBS special and immediately looked them up. You are so lucky to have this training on island. If I were there, I’d go myself…someday return…
