Anyone who might happen to visit the Lieutenant Governor’s office in Olympia in the next three months will be surprised to see some familiar art on the walls. Well known local artist Frank Loudin has been invited by the Lieutenant Governor’s Art Council to show a sampling of his watercolors in the reception room for the months of January through March.
Frank has selected sixteen images that represent his fondness for Orcas Island, scenes that all of us would recognize as part of our beautiful surroundings.
It seems a person familiar with the Art Council’s program happened to have lunch at Café Olga, where the walls are regularly adorned with a fine selection of Loudins, and through an evolution of happenstance, Frank was invited to Olympia.

Hooray for Frank!
I have Frank’s color rendition of the WWII Grumman F6F Navy carrier-based fighter aircraft, the type I flew in the ‘Big War,’ on my special wall. Beautiful!
(Makes Air Force pilots jealous).
What a nice honor for a wonderful artist!
And on my wall I have Frank’s Pan Am China Clipper (a Boeing 314-NC14716) heading to Hawaii flying over the yet to be finished Golden Gate Bridge in the 1930’s. Thank you Frank.
And I have ” Study for Hot Rolls,’, “Yield to Sunlight”, & “Senior project” prints. I love them
I have the original painting called “Fly-in” by Frank. It depicts the annual fly-in campout on Orcas island that always happens the 1st weekend in August at the Eastsound airport. I have been coming to the fly-in since the number 2 fly-in in the early 80’s. I flew in from eastern Washington to the fly-in for 18 yrs and camped out before I moved to Orcas in 1999. Frank painted a 22″ x 15″ picture of my Cessna 207 with some friends around the camp under the wing. Its a great piece hanging in my mini storage office that I see every day. Thank you Frank for all of the wonderful art and letting me acquire this original painting!
