As the the grocery stores were busy keeping up with depleting potato chip aisles, it was a day of sun, smiles, and Navy plane flybys at the Village Green with the annual Historical Day celebration on Friday. Sponsored by the Orcas Island Historical Museum, the day was packed with a live auction, vendors, games, a beer garden, and the 3rd annual Harvey Logging Show.
“Each year the show gets bigger, and next year we are hoping to incorporate real competitions,” said Rich Harvey. With donations that were given at the show, Rich hopes to use the proceeds to buy saws for next year.
The Harvey family (Russ & Rita, and children Rich, Rob, Ryan, Rachel, Ray and Renae; along with Mom/Grandma Francis Harvey) will be walking as Grand Marshal for the 4th of July Community Parade (held on Saturday the 5th) through Eastsound Village.
