San Juan County was notified by the Office of the Secretary of State that a recount of votes in the race for Lopez Park and Recreation District Commissioner No. 5 was required. The final results of the 2025 General election, held of November 4, 2025, revealed a difference in votes between the candidates in the race for Lopez Park and Recreation District Commissioner No. 5 of less than 0.25%. This thin margin prompted a mandatory recount.
The San Juan County Elections Division completed the mandatory recount for the position of Commissioner 5 of the Lopez Park and Recreation District. The recount results indicate that candidate Christopher “Kit” Ledbetter is ahead of candidate Dan Post by a single vote, consistent with the original tally.
The recount was conducted by hand tally and was open to the public. All ballots in the Lopez Park and Recreation District precincts were included. The recounted results matched the initially certified results.
Camolyn Armstrong, the Elections Manager, stated, “We are pleased that the hand recount confirmed that all ballots cast in the November 4 General Election were reported accurately and matched exactly with the certified results posted on November 25, 2025.”
Additional information concerning the recount may be obtained by calling the Elections Office at (360) 378-3357.
