The San Juan County Elections Office will mail ballots for the November 2 General Election on October 14. Voters will see federal, congressional, legislative, county, and judicial races on the ballot.
The Statewide voters’ pamphlet will be arriving in mailboxes that same week and Lopez Island Elementary fourth grader Jack Sovelove’s artwork appears on page 122 of the pamphlet. Jack’s artwork was chosen for the Kids Can Vote page. Kids Can Vote is a state program encourages students’ interest in the voting process. Students can participate in mock elections and take part in a TVW Public Affairs Network forum on voting.
Voters returning their ballots by mail must have them postmarked by Election Day. First class postage is required when mailing the ballot. Voters may instead deposit ballots postage free at ballot drop boxes located at the San Juan County Courthouse, Orcas Island Senior Center, Lopez Fire Station or drop their ballots off at the elections office in Friday Harbor by 8 p.m. on Election Day.
