Tom Hiddleston as Cariolanus

Tom Hiddleston as Cariolanus

Orcas Center will stream the National Theatre Live’s Donmar Warehouse’s production of Coriolanus, Shakespeare’s searing tragedy of political manipulation and revenge, with Tom Hiddleston (Thor, The Avengers, War Horse, and BBC’s The Hollow Crown) in the title role and Mark Gatiss (BBC’s Sherlock) as Menenius, directed by Donmar’s highly regarded Artistic Director, Josie Rourke.

When an old adversary threatens Rome, the city calls once more on her hero and defender: Coriolanus. But he has enemies at home, too. Famine threatens the city, the citizens’ hunger swells to an appetite for change, and on returning from the field Coriolanus must confront the march of real politik and the voice of an angry people.

This production, completely sold out for its entire three month run in London’s West End, brings Tom Hiddleston back to the stage after several very high profile film roles – Thor: The Dark World, Thor, Marvel’s Avengers Assemble, War Horse, and Deep Blue Sea.

‘Tom Hiddleston has blazing stellar power…magnificent.’ —Independent

‘Tom Hiddleston returns to the London stage with a compelling performance.’ —Evening Standard

‘Unfailingly vivid – intelligent, brisk and brutal.’ —Metro

‘Tom Hiddleston is super-intense.’ —Sunday Times

If you liked: Thor/Thor 2, Marvel’s Avengers Assemble, War Horse, Hamlet (with Kenneth Branagh) Coriolanus (with Ralph Fiennes), The Tempest (with Helen Mirren), and Sherlock you’ll surely not want to miss this very visceral, energetic and immediate production live on screen at Orcas Center.

Tickets for this NT Live presentation of Coriolanus are $18, $13 for students, $2 off for Orcas Center members, and may be purchased at www.orcascenter.org or by calling 376-2281 ext. 1 or visiting the Orcas Center Box Office open Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from noon – 4 pm.
