If April is Poetry Month, then it naturally follows that Orcas is Poetry Island.
Again this year we will be posting a poem a day throughout the month of April.
Over the years, some of the best poems printed on Orcas Issues have been written by our local poets. To specifically bring light to the wealth of poetry written by local poets on Orcas Island, Orcas Issues will be accepting poetry submissions by our local poets.
Please send us your poem in an email text, or a Word document to: editor@theorcasonian.com, with the word “Poetry” in the subject line.
Limit of three submissions per poet, please.
**If you are reading theOrcasonian for free, thank your fellow islanders. If you would like to support theOrcasonian CLICK HERE to set your modestly-priced, voluntary subscription. Otherwise, no worries; we’re happy to share with you.**
The Orcas Island Unitarian Universalist Fellowship will be hosting our annual poetry service on Sunday, April 3rd to kick off poetry month. Bring a poem to share – one you wrote or a favorite published piece. 11:30am at Emmanuel’s Benson Hall – finger food potluck to follow.
Will you be doing a poet a day again, as in last year? That solution allowed more poets to participate. Reading local poetry is something many of us look forward to every year. Thank you for doing this.
