“Congratulations, it is my pleasure to invite you to participate in 2014 Collector’s Choice at Sylvia White Gallery.” This was the exciting notice that local artist and teacher Terry Johnson received from the highly respected Sylvia White Gallery in Ventura, California.
The notice went on to say, “What an extraordinary experience this has been! My collectors loved participating in the process of curating an exhibition. The level of artwork that was submitted to this show was astounding, and I am very proud of the selections they made. I must admit, it was somewhat of a relief that the total burden of making selections did not rest on my shoulders alone. At the same time, it confirms the quality of selections.
“We had over 3,000 submissions to review, from over 500 artists. Your work was among only 50 artists invited to participate. You should be quite proud!”
“It is the second year,” Johnson states, “that I have been invited to this exhibition (judged by 15 of the gallery’s major collectors), and my fourth participation in exhibitions in the gallery, including the 2012 & 2013 Summer Juried Exhibitions.”
