Sunday, August 17, 3 p.m. — 5 p.m., Village Green

The Orcas Island Lions Club invites community members to see what the Orcas Island Lions Club does to make a difference. The club is hosting an informal informational event on the Eastsound Village Green for everyone to learn more about the club and its work in the community.

“Our club gives members an opportunity to advance worthy causes, serve with friends, and become leaders in the community. This club means a lot to us, but it means so much more to the people we serve.”

The event will be held on, August 17, from 3:00pm till 5:00pm, just prior to the Music in the Park concert. Club President Don Webster encourages the public to come out and learn more about the club’s work.

“We want to share the great things we’re doing in the community, and let others know how they can help and join in the Club activities.”

The Lions’ motto is “We Serve,” and the Orcas Island Lions club has lived up to it. For 39 years, the clubs has sponsored the Holiday Baskets, Easter Egg Hunt, Health Screening Van, Sight and Hearing projects, local scholarships and supporting Camp Horizon.

The Club will be serving free pulled pork sandwiches at the event and there will be a Beer Garden that stays open through the concert. Come see what Lions is all about and meet the members of your community that serve in this organization.
