During the months of June, July and August, Lily, An Island Gathering Place located beneath Allium where gourmet ice cream is served, will be donating a portion of every ice cream sale to the Orcas Island Farm to Cafeteria Program.
“Lily is the kid sister of Allium,” says Allium and Lily owner Lisa Nakamura, “so the well-being of kids is important to us.” That’s why Lisa chose the Farm to Cafeteria Program as the benefactor of her summer ice cream promotion. “Also, we treasure local sources.”
Practicing what she preaches, items sold at Lily come from Island businesses including Fair Trade Certified Local Goods Coffee and an amazing array of all natural, hormone free Lopez Island Creamery ice cream including Cookies and Cream and Peanut Butter Cup, just to name two of 12 flavors choices in the store as well as sundaes.
Lily came into existence in March of last year when Lisa noticed there was no place on Orcas serving fresh local ice cream. If you want to have a quick lunch, you can also purchase Bento boxes and fresh, generously-sized sushi rolls at Lily…two other rare items on Orcas. New menu items will be added this summer, so be sure to stop by! If you have a large order, or a vegetarian request, please call a day ahead at 376-4904.
So mark your calendar every day during June, July and August as a day to visit Lily located just beneath Allium and share some ice cream with the kids. Dinner at Allium is a delicious idea, too.
