Here’s what Lamai shared about his passion for chess:

I’m a 16-year-old senior at OIHS. My family moved to the island in 2013, so I’ve lived here for a little over a decade now. What draws me to chess is problem-solving. I love working through puzzles, and chess is really just a very intricate one. It’s also been a great way to meet people who enjoy the same things, to compete, and to spend time with friends. I especially enjoy teaching friends, family, and anyone who’s curious, because I think chess has something to offer for everyone.
