— from Margaret Payne for Orcas Library —
In December 2017, the Orcas Island Public Library committed itself to support the visual arts on Orcas Island by inviting island artists to exhibit in the newly expanded library.
The Library is pleased to report that during 2018, sixteen Orcas Island artists shared their work with the community, supporting the library in its mission to support all learners by maintaining strong collections, resources and services; to serve as a welcoming place for reflection, exploration, discussion and networking; and to reach out effectively to all groups and individuals.
With this notice, the Library is seeking applications for the 2019 exhibit schedule.
By November 30, 2018, interested Orcas Island artists of any age should submit, online or in-person to Director Phil Heikkinen, pheikkinen@orcaslibrary.org, an application to include the following items:
- name, address, email, and phone
- six digital or printed images of your work
- brief (200 words) statement of interest and artist’s bio
The Library Art Committee will review applications and contact artists to create the 2019 exhibit schedule. Thank you to all the island artists who exhibited in 2018.
