On a rainy day in October, 2012 I received fast, professional medical assistance from Orcas Island Fire and Rescue and Emergency Medical Services!
If my responders hadn’t responded as promptly as they did, or if they hadn’t been as qualified as they were that day, I wouldn’t be sitting here writing this letter … my life was saved. I know personally from the assistance they provided me, and professionally from the assistance (often life-saving) OIFREMS has provided time and again to our clients at Domestic Violence & Sexual Assault Services, that they need and deserve our support.
Vote yes on the OIFR LEVY.

No service will be compromised by the rejection of this bloated levy. I see signs all over the island supporting the levy. Who paid for these signs? I would hope it was not public money as I am sure that is illegal.
Harvey – The signs were purchased with private donations to the levy campaign effort. A quick check of the state’s PDC records would tell you that.
Service will most emphatically be compromised if the levy does not pass. Read the projected budget. For one thing, it would cut way back on the sort of training and volunteer support that enabled quite a number of firefighters and emts to respond to a traumatic fall down a cliff this afternoon. No training and no equipment results in no rescue squad and no rescue.
