Dear Editor,
On Monday Ingrid and I were awakened by our smoke alarms at about 1:00 am; we looked around for smoke or fire but everything checked O.K. We thought that perhaps the batteries were low and the next day, Tuesday, we replaced them with fresh ones.
During the day everything worked fine; but around 1:00 am the alarms went off again; we looked all over the house once more and found no problem. We even wondered if the Poltergeists were playing a trick on us; but apparently there is a logical explanation for these mishaps.
The next day, Wednesday we googled in search of an answer to our problem and found out that the culprit could be the solar flares. In Florida they had many more; they were also in Australia and New Zealand.
Has anyone had the same experience on the islands?
George Karnikis

Hi George … I experienced both my computer and my printer doing strange things. Strange popups and error messages on my computer – and after several tech people from Dell logged on to my computer – and were unable to correct the problems – they ended up sending me a new mother board, key board and palm rest – and then found that something had destroyed my internet card. One of the Dell techs said he thought I had a ‘GHOST’ in my computer … Woo woo woo – mm
George: My TV satellite reception goes out often on this warm, sunny, calm, beautiful Orcas day due to the solar flares. Don’t mind as I’m usually on mute due to the alleged idiotic drivel continually shown. This anomaly will cease this December according to the Mayan calendar.
George, I received the following in an email this week. I am personally experiencing much of what is talked about here:
