The Washington State Officials Association (WSOA) voted and awarded the Overall Sportsmanship Award to the OHS Lady Vikings Basketball Program! This is a tremendous honor and award never before received by the OHS Lady Vikings Basketball Program. This award also comes with a $1,000 Scholarship to a senior Team Captain– in our case Kathryn Tidwell– who will accept the scholarship on behalf of the team.
Congratulations to all the players, coaches, managers, and members of the OHS Lady Vikings Basketball Team! The Washington State Officials Association also voted on individual teams’ sportsmanship; the OHS Lady Vikings Junior Varsity Team took First Place and the Varsity Team took Second Place.
These honors speak volumes about the character, pride, and spirit of the 2011-2012 OHS Lady Vikings Basketball Team. No matter what the score or opponent, the Lady Vikings Basketball team strived to leave everything on the court, to never give up or relent, and to leave every game as winners in the true sense of the word. They played with integrity and demonstrated true sportsmanship. Such an acknowledgement by the WSOA is arguably one of the greatest accomplishments a team could achieve. It means we elevated the game.
There will be an awards banquet at 6 p.m. on Saturday, March 31, 2012 at the Skagit Golf & Country Club where the OHS Lady Vikings Basketball Team will be presented with these awards and Kathryn Tidwell will be presented a $1,000 Scholarship.
Congratulations to the team on a job well done!
