I wanted to alert [Orcas Issues’ readers] to the following telephone scam; we experienced it on all three of our telephone lines last week.
The caller announces that someone has ordered an “emergency medical alert system” for you because you have had a fall (in a recorded message) and goes on to present options for pressing buttons to enter payment information for something, like delivery, even though it says that the system has already been paid for early on in the call.
There is very little that can be done about these scammers but warn potential targets.
