I’m very pleased to announce the newly-elected PTSA Board of Officers:
Holly King (President), Kristen Wilson (Vice President), Vicki Vandermay (Co-Secretary), Rita Bailey (Co-Secretary), Bob Connell (Treasurer), Michelle Kostechko (Membership/Volunteer Coordinator), Jennifer Pietsch (Activity Coordinator) and Susan Stolmeier (Teacher Representative).
I’ll remain on the Board as Past President/Rollerskating Coordinator, but will no longer be the official PTSA communications person. Communications from the PTSA to its members, etc. will primarily be
coming from Rita Bailey, but don’t be surprised if Holly sends out a message occasionally.
Rita’s email is orcasbaileys@gmail.com.
I hope all of you can take time this busy week to thank our teachers and staff for all they did for our kids this year, with special thanks to Tish Knapp and Katy Nollman, who are retiring. Also, thank you to retiring PTSA board members Anne Garfield and Liane O’Neill.

While she would never say it, I will. Barb Skotte is stepping down as President. So: THANK YOU to Barb Skotte for her amazing leadership and commitment to the PTSA over the last few years. She has been the energy and vision of the organization, and we should all be grateful for her effort. Barb, the schools are so very lucky to have you as such a dedicated volunteer!
I echo Janet’s comments. What fantastic consistency, energy, generosity, and thoughtfulness Barb has shared with us and the students.
My wife and I will be new to the island and our son will start 2nd grade in the fall. We’ll be looking to take part in PTSA meetings and/or volunteer after we get settled. We’ve been active members in the the Olympia School District (Thurston County); I designed, hosted and maintain their web site, http://www.pioneerpta.com, as well as volunteered on the first Sustainability Committee. We’re looking forward to meeting the PTSA members and teachers on Orcas. Best regards.
