Dear Editor,
Did the School Board think about the negative impact of cutting the School Bus Service on Fridays in order to save $6,500?
How many parents will have to drive twice on Fridays to take their kids back and forth to school and what about if it affects their work schedule.
This decision needs to be reversed and the Board needs to find another area to cut $6,500.

Dear Pierrette,
Of course the School Board considered the negative impacts. I know them, and they have hard choices to make. Cuts in other areas have negative impacts, too. I’m sure this was considered the lesser of many evils. Let’s give them some credit. Notifying parents well in advance of the loss of Friday service should give parents time to set up some kind of carpool system. Let’s hope so.

Dear Pierette,
Thank you for your concern. As Joyce said, we did evaluate the impact of this difficult decision as we do all other decisions. We also said that we will revisit this matter at the next regular school board meeting when we can get updates from the administration and possibly hear about donations to OIEF to help during these difficult budgetary times.
