To the Editor,
Orcas has shown brightly in this election. We have had three highly qualified and committed community members step forward to run for one position. All have great skills, deep passion, and valuable ideas to add to the conversation, a conversation in which they showed great civility and respect. We are deeply grateful to each candidate and to their families for the time, resources, and grace they have contributed to running for the Council position. Our democracy is stronger because they stepped into the ring.
While they all have our gratitude, Lisa Byers has our vote. She has tipped the balance with her stellar experience working in this county, leading a remarkable organization through historically challenging economic times. She is skilled at managing both a budget and a community. Her confidence, grace, and perseverance will serve our county well.
