While all political candidates seem to be championing the middle class lately, we can’t think of anyone who has done more for moderate income hard working families than Lisa Byers.

Lisa, and the organization she has led, have made it possible for over a hundred island households to own their own affordable homes in thriving neighborhood settings. Think about that for a moment. If that had been your job, how would you do that? Where would you begin? Where would the land and the construction money come from? Would you simply give up when faced with seemingly impossible regulations? How would you be able to move your organization forward even as credit dried up during the deepest recession in years? Could you still successfully raise your family while working your way through these and many more seemingly insurmountable problems?

Lisa Byers has received national recognition for her work and she could certainly scale her accomplishments up to a wider geographic audience. Thankfully, she has chosen to remain here in San Juan County.

We hope you will join us in recognizing what a great asset Lisa Byers has been to Orcas Island and give her a chance to extend her influence to the entire county as a County Council Member.
