Yesterday I was shocked to learn that Dr. Jennifer Simpson-Manske is no longer at Island Primary Care – Orcas. And yet, I have appointments with her in early fall on my calendar!
For a good number ol years, I had suffered with unusual physical issues. My doctor at the time reassured me over time that I was fine. He thought I probably had heart problems. I did not have heart problems.
When I learned, more than three years ago, there was a new woman doctor at the Center, I promptly made an appointment. I again discussed my odd problems, like loosing balance from time to time. Dr. Simpson-Manske referred me to Island Hospital for a brain scan.
Subsequently, I was shocked to learn that I was to be taken by ambulance to neurosurgical unit at UW in Seattle. I had a brain tumor the size of a nectorine.
I endured surgery and spent 8 days in the hospital.
Dr. Simpson-Manske saved my life.
Whats more, I know many folks here on the island who have also experienced her careful, thoughtful, respectful professional medical care. She is an outstanding primary care doctor. Like Anji Ringzin, I am an elder here on the Island. And like Anji I urge The Orcas Island Health Care District Board and Island Health in Anacortes to review this decision and listen to what our island community has to say.
