||| FROM KELLY CARPENTER, et. al |||

The saying “it takes a village” will forever remain steadfast for our special Orcas Island community. A child’s development is influenced by an entire community. Voting YES on the two levy propositions in the November 4th election is a chance to show such support for the future of our “village”!

We are writing as Orcas Education Association Executive Board members to inform community members of why YES is important. The two levies presented will fund essential programs and operations not fully funded by the state. Such programs include: music, art, farm to classroom and outdoor education. As educators, with many years of experience, we rely on such funding to improve not only the integrity of our campus, but also maintain our educational programming. At Orcas Island School District, education is more than textbooks. We encourage and celebrate differences. We foster a community that embraces creativity, growth, and innovation where all students have the possibility to reach their full potential.

Please help us maintain the level of education and student support that is valued on Orcas. We hope you will join us in voting YES on the November ballot.
