I love walking in nature observing the wonders of the natural world. The Land Bank has some of the best parks and they have also partnered with other organizations to purchase land which is open to the public.
I love our local farmers. The Land Bank is working to protect farmland and help working farmers. This is important to me for both the view corridors and the delicious food farmers provide.
I love having access to the shoreline. For those of us who do not have waterfront property the Land Bank has several parcels of land with shoreline access that support our marine ecosystems. One of my favorite Land Bank properties is Channel Preserve!
I love the principles of the Land Bank – protecting clean water and the health of our island’s ecosystem by providing wildlife habitat and healthy forests for generations.
I love our diverse community. Renewing the Land Bank also preserves the .05 real estate excise tax (paid by the buyer) that supports affordable housing. The housing REET has provided 132 affordable homes for islanders to date.
What’s not to love about the Land Bank? Please vote yes on Proposition 1 to extend our conservation area real estate excise tax (Land Bank). This will benefit all of us and our future children for generations!
