My name is Anne Ford McGrath. I have been an educator for over 25 years and am so grateful to live in a community that has continuously supported education levies.
As an educator in the Orcas Island School District, I have seen many changes in programs and funding from the state. We rely on this EP & O Levy (Educational Programs and Operations) to meet the needs of our students. I’ve also seen the needs change drastically after COVD in the social/ emotional area.
We need to have resources for our students to excel in all areas of education. These resources include: teachers and support staff, school nurses and social emotional supports, safety and transportation, classroom technology and training, special education, curriculum and supplies, athletics, arts and clubs.
I believe our students at OISD deserve a safe, equitable and quality public education. Please help us maintain the level of education and student support that is expected on Orcas. I hope you will join me in voting YES for the EP & O levy on the February ballot.
