Each year the Odd Fellows award two scholarships to community-minded seniors at the High School graduation. We fund those scholarships through our annual Halloween dance and a firewood raffle.

None of this would be possible without the enormous support of our community, including the hundreds of folks that came to dance and the hundreds that bought firewood raffle tickets. The winner of a cord of wood is “Please Donate,” which we shall do.

A big thanks to all the local businesses who donated prizes for the really fun costume contest. Please give a pat on the back to these folks who support our community, including Maple Rock Farm, Girl Meets Dirt, Anita Holladay, Keely Scott, Shearwater Kayak Tours, Morningstar Farm, Catkin Cafe, Orcas Spa & Athletics, Ship Bay, Hogstone’s, and The Kitchen.

Gratitude to the fantastic artful flashmob dancing of the Island Inspiration All-Stars, including Hailey Averna, Gail Bulletset, Tiffany Loney, Aristotle Luna, Stephanie Moss, Jessica Stahl, Annie Valentine, with choreography by Anthony The Dancer.

A special shout out to Bellingham band The Walrus, for rocking the house with hours of fun groovy music. Thanks for making the trip and bringing your sweeties! And thanks, too, to Ian and the gang at The Golden Tree Hostel for providing lodging for the band.

And gratitude to Mimi and Steve at Morningstar Farm for the amazing pumpkin that greeted folks at the door.

Thanks to all of you, we raised approximately $3,600 towards scholarships and special local projects.
