San Juan County is lucky. It is lucky to have strong, supportive and engaged leaders that are willing to make the representation and support of ALL members of the community a priority. As new/returning residents and members of the LGBTQ+ community, we recognize that not every community shares these same values – it is part of why we have chosen to make this place our home.
As new, voting members of this community, we are proud to cast our votes for Justin Paulsen in this election. We have seen the effort that Justin has put into his vast community-based work to assure that EVERY resident is represented, supported and most importantly advocated for. From his work on housing, to support of island youth, to advocacy for immigrant concerns, to his work as a Park Commissioner as an early adopter of DEI processes at the policy level, Justin has consistently led, not just with words but with meaningful actions.
We believe that Justin’s perspectives and approaches to inclusion make him the best candidate to defend and support ALL residents of our islands – bringing a voice to those who may not otherwise be willing to speak out.
