I am writing to encourage you to join me in voting for Rick Fant for Commissioner of the Port of Orcas. I first got to know Rick as owner of the Airport Center and landlord for my medical practice, Orcas Family Health Center. Over the years, Rick was incredibly generous in charging reasonable rent and often donating space rent free. Needless to say, our practice significantly benefited from Rick’s generosity.
I have also gotten to know Rick as a fellow pilot. He is coordinator for the Airhawks program which provides scholarships for interested prospective pilots to help pay for flight training. In the long run, it is hoped these scholarship recipients will go on to obtain their pilot’s license and in the future, may join those of us who are Mercy Pilots. That need becomes greater with the aging of the current cadre of Mercy Pilots.
I consider Rick to be a good listener who always follows through with any task. I have read some of the ideas he has to expand the role of the Port of Orcas to include playing a role in affordable housing, a critical need on Orcas as we all know.
Please vote for Rick Fant for Port Commissioner in the upcoming primary election August 1 as well as the general election November 7.
