Dear Neighbors and Friends,
As the 2021/22 school year comes to a close, we just want to say an extra big thank you for the support you have given to A*OK (a program of the Orcas Island Education Foundation). Art for Orcas Kids thrives because of the amazing community support for art in the classroom!
This year, because of a generous mid-year anonymous gift, we were able to provide four additional weeks of art classes in the Orcas Island Elementary School. Plus, our Creative Director and Teaching Artist Ms Brook was able to provide class tours of the All School Student Art Exhibit at the Orcas Center during the month of May.
This year we provided the school administration with a weekly re-cap of classroom highlights with photos. Thumbing back through these we are struck by the smiles on the kids faces and the joy that art making brings to all aspects of learning.
You helped us fully fund our Orcas Island Community Foundation GiveOrcas Grant which allowed us to distribute 410 sketchbooks to all Orcas Island School District students! The photo below is from a group diving into some of the fun ideas that Ms Brook customized for the different grade levels.
You help make all this happen and allow us to grow the A*OK program to continue to teach art in the classroom. A HUGE THANK YOU!
It is with such gratitude we want to say it over and over … thank you, thank you, thank you!
