— from Tom McDonough —
Mary Pugh transitioned some time ago to a new role at the library as Public Services Librarian, expanding the marketing and social media outreach for library services and event programming.
Over the past year and more she has increased awareness of library events, sometimes to standing room only (a good problem to have), along with other library services. Recently there was a Zoom event with Hugo & Nebula award-winning science fiction author Greg Bear (moderated by Mark Ferrari) that was well attended and just so much fun.
We’re eager to participate in more terrific library programming events like this. So thank you, Mary, for everything you do behind the scenes, and keep up the wonderful work! We all benefit from your efforts.

Thank you Tom. It’s a lot of fun to do.
It took me a minute to realize that I didn’t write that letter. I had been thinking the same sentiments and thought that I should write a letter to the editor. So, thanks, Tom McDonough, for reading my mind and sending in Mary praise.
Mary has done a tremendous job with this, including the tech part of presenting everything. We are very lucky to have Mary Pugh in this job.
I agree with Tom and Kathi’s comments. I have been to numerous in-person talks and poetry readings at the library, hosted by Mary Pugh, and now have taken part in some great Zoom presentations, the latest of which was on writing (and reading) memoir and historical fiction, with local writer Susan Lampe. We even had a chance to write and share with other participants. I thought it went very smoothly and if I didn’t live so close to town, would probably appreciate classes like that even if the pandemic did not require the social distance. I appreciate all of our Library’s efforts to both keep us safe and provide services.
Kathi, you are so funny with that opener!
Mary is a solid-core, deep-thinking, stone-cold agent for good.
