||| FROM SHARON NELSON |||
I’m a resident of Orcas Island, and like you, I’ve watched as ICE and CBP have terrorized communities and ripped immigrant families apart targeting the most vulnerable rather than those engaging in criminal behavior. It’s been hard to know what to do. But, following the murders of two American citizens who were acting well within their rights, we find ourselves at an inflection point.
Now is the time to make our voices heard. That’s why I’m asking our community to sign this petition and to circulate it to as many people as we can as quickly as we can. This is our moment. Congress is debating theses issues right now.
When our petition reaches 50,000 signatures, I will purchase my plane ticket to Washington DC. By that time, I hope to have coordinated with our state representatives to personally deliver the petition to the named parties.
Together we can make a difference!

Thank you for doing this, Sharon N.! I have signed and shared it.
I also signed it but noticed I’m only the 43rd one to do so.
Perhaps a better way to make our voices heard is for us to demonstrate in front of the Customs and Border Protection office on Spring Street in Friday Harbor, which I did with several others a few months ago. Especially effective when the ferry comes in and there are lots of vehicles passing by.
