Letter to Editor | Ingman has our full support

This is to share how my husband and I know Katherine Bryant Ingman candidate for San Juan County Council District 3, and why she has our full support.

We first met Katherine when we began to volunteer at the Lopez Food Share in 2020, during the Covid epidemic.  Lopez has a long history of food generosity but as the impact of the epidemic hit the island like a tidal wave, the need to help with food security and to help our farmers and food related businesses stay afloat made it clear that we needed structure and order to make effective, long term use of our deep wellsprings of good will and good intentions.  

Many people were involved in that effort and Katherine Bryant Ingman was instrumental.  She studied, she organized, she planned, she implemented.  She worked her tail off.  And when she left it was a going concern with plenty of room for change in response to changing circumstances, changing needs, but a solid, working foundation with staying power for the future.

That’s how we know Katherine.  Now let me tell you why she has our support going into the future. A lot of politicians will tell you what’s wrong with the other side, a lot of politicians will tell you they’re going to fight for you. I am tired of people fighting,  I am tired of blame games and partisan politics.  

Let me repeat what I wrote about Katherine – She studied, she organized, she planned, she implemented.  She worked and because of that she achieved.

That’s what I want for our future. I want honesty.  I want work.  I want someone who isn’t going to pretend that there are simple solutions to the difficult problems we face.

I want hard work.  I want coalition building.  I want partnership.  I want thoughtful examination of current circumstances and future options. 

Katherine Bryant Ingman has repeatedly demonstrated these attributes.  We’re lucky to have her.  She’s going to make a great council representative.  She has our unqualified support and I hope you’ll join us in voting for Katherine Bryant Ingman for County Council on November 3rd.
