||| FROM TOBY AND SARAH COOPER |||

We are pleased to stand with our many Orcas friends in support of the 2021 Tech Levy.

For me, as a student up through graduate studies at Michigan, technology was defined as a Smith Corona manual typewriter, period. Those early Texas Instruments pocket calculators, though available, were outlawed in class or exams.

We have come a long way. Today’s OI students need access to technology not to master gadgets – they did that in grade school – but to learn to weave technology deep within every aspect of their personal and professional lives. How effectively they practice that integration will in part define their future measure of success.

I hope this measure passes with the comfortable plurality it deserves. Thank you to all for support.
