from Orcas Island Middle School Sixth Graders/Class of 2025 —

The Orcas Island Middle School sixth graders would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the Orcas Island Education Foundation (OIEF) for their generous grant of $2,600. The grant helped to offset the costs of our recent trip to NatureBridge, a five-day, outdoor learning experience on the Olympic Peninsula.

We had an unforgettable time exploring the trails along Lake Crescent, learning about watersheds, observing salmon in the Elwa River, testing the river’s pH, oxygen saturation, and turbidity, and more. In addition, our time at NatureBridge gave us a greater understanding and respect for nature and how to preserve it.

We appreciate OIEF’s continued support, which helps ensure that Orcas Island Middle School sixth graders can participate in this amazing experience.
