We write to support Art Lange’s candidacy for Orcas Island Public Hospital District Commissioner.
Art brings a wide range of relevant on and off island credentials to the job. He has served as a consultant to Orcas Fire and Recue and on the boards of the Orcas Medical Foundation, the Orcas Island Community Foundation, and the Orcas Center. Before passage of the Affordable Care Act, he personally wrote grants supporting all three medical practices on Orcas to help provide medical care for patients who could not afford it. Most recently, he has worked tirelessly as a member of the Coalition for Orcas Healthcare to communicate why passage of the PHD is in the best interest of us all.
Art’s wealth of professional experience makes him a natural to be selected Commissioner – management at numerous levels, consultation with healthcare organizations, and strategic and operational planning.
But most importantly, Art brings a willingness to listen, openness to other’s ideas, and transparency to every conversation and group task. He asks the right questions at the right time. His “normal” is good humor and he can respectfully disagree while always moving forward with productive dialogue to workable solutions.
We trust Art Lange to deliver on the promise of high quality primary and urgent care for all in a financially sustainable and predictable manner – now and for generations to come. We’re giving him our vote and hope you will also.
