— by Adrienne Reed, of Plant for the Planet —
Plant for the Planet is coming to Orcas Island on Saturday, February 14th for a free Climate Ambassador training of youth ages 8-14, from 9 a.m. until 5:30.at Orcas Island Elementary School in the Gymnasium.
Parents are optional and welcome, but kids ages 8-14 are very much needed for this event to help a world-wide children’s initiative in planting 1,000 billion trees –yes, it’s really 1,000 billion they are planting — one trillion trees!
The valuable, all-day training in planting trees and discussing science-based approaches of pulling carbon from the atmosphere and possible climate solutions is free and includes a tee-shirt and lunch.
You can sign up for free online at climatechangeforfamilies.

Plant for the Planet is a hands on opportunity and hope for the world. A way for Climate Solution in the hands of our youth? A goal to plant 1 billion trees all over the planet, the opportunity to learn and execute urgently needed environmental practices? And right here on Orcas for kids ages 8 to 14. More registrants are needed for Plant for the Planet on February 14. I strongly urge you to encourage those young folk you know with interest between the ages of 8 to 14 to register for this amazing, youth lead & driven experience in being part of the Solution.
Adrienne Reed’s effort to bring this alive on Orcas is a gift to us all. I’m so glad we can do this work on Valentine’s day and join in a planetary piece of the effort needed now. I look forward to a chance to join our young ones that day and do what i can to assist.
