Native flute and folk music, Poetry, and Coast Salish Storytelling at Odd Fellows Hall on the waterfront

Join Orcas Island Poet, Jill McCabe Johnson, for our annual Earth Day poetry reading with Salish  Stories shared by Paul ‘Chiyokten’ Wagner (West Saanich). Flute and Folk Music begins at 6pm.

Come early for no-host dinner provided by The Kitchen starting at 5pm. Music by Earthlingz and Chiyokten begins at 6pm. Poetry and Story begins at 6:30.

Parade gathers at Public Library – all ages welcome.

Procession of the Species themed parade assembles at 11am on upper library lawn and begins at 11:30am, heading down North Beach Rd to the waterfront at Emmanuel Labyrinth.

We have a variety of parade props available to pick up at library and carry, and you are welcome to come in costume. Larger props – helpers welcome – assemble on lower library lawn.

Opening Event at the Labyrinth

Environmental speaker, Althea Wilson (Lummi) officially opens the event at noon, on the lawn at the labyrinth. Find us at the Earth Ball. Activites for adults and kids follow.

Earth Day Eco Fair and Salish Sea Arts Celebration, along the waterfront

• Hands on activity and learning tables with presentations by The Salish Sea School, The San Juan Islands National Monument, San Juan County Master Gardeners, OPAL’s Pea Patch, Orcas Island EV Network, San Juan County Land Bank and more, 11:45-2:30.
• Art and Music with Zack Leck, Maria Bullock, John Raymond Berry and Island Synphonia.
• Native and Local Plant walk with Taja Wicks, 12:30.
• Low tide is a -.01 at 10am and beach front will be walkable during event. Please protect the wildlife.
• Community Dance and Wisdom Circle begin at 1:30 at waterfront park with Rosie Cayou James (Samish) and friends ( dance rehearsal is Friday 2pm at Odd Fellows).
• Requiem and Renewal, contemplative spoken word and music with special guest Althea Wilson (Lummi), 4pm in Parish Hall.
