The League of Women Voters of the San Juans will host three nights of online forums for local candidates in the Nov. 3 General Election.

From 5:30-7 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 6, incumbent Rick Larsen will face his opponent Timothy Hazelo, who are both running for U.S. Representative for Congressional District 2.

From 5:30-7 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 7, San Juan County Council candidates will meet. Incumbent Rick Hughes and challenger Cindy Wolf are both running for San Juan County Council Residency District 2. Ryan Palmateer and challenger Christine Minney are both running for San Juan County Council Residency District 1.

The last event, from 5-7 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 8, will host the islands’ candidates for Washington state senator and representative. Incumbent Liz Lovelett will make a 5-minute statement regarding her candidacy for Washington State Senator for Legislative District 40. Her opponent Charles Carrell is unable to join and League of Women Voters’ rules do not allow for a Q&A period unless both candidates participate. After Lovelett’s remarks, incumbent Alex Ramel will face challenger Russ Dzialo, who are both running for Washington state Representative 2 for Legislative District 2.

Each evening of forums will have its own Zoom link. Email candidateforums2020@gmail.com to register, and the link will be emailed to you. Indicate that you would like to register for each night of forums to receive links for each separate Zoom meeting.
