Newest numbers. The Washington State Department of Health (DOH) reported a total of 468,350 confirmed cases as of 11:59 p.m. on Aug. 16. There have been 6,269 COVID-19 deaths in Washington.

Child immunization data are concerning for some ages. DOH has updated the state’s childhood immunization rate data, which shows that many school-aged children missed recommended vaccines in 2020. The decreases in pre-teen vaccine rates are especially concerning. Read the full news release here.

New DOH guidance document on COVID-19 vaccination requirement. This document provides FAQ regarding Gov. Inslee’s COVID-19 Vaccination requirement for health care providers, workers and settings.

COVID-19 long-term care report. As of Aug. 16, a total of 21,486 COVID-19 cases and 2,717 deaths have been identified as associated or likely associated with a long-term care facility (such as nursing home, assisted living facility, or adult family home). Guard joint task force concludes food distribution support services. Joint Task Force Steelhead, Washington state’s COVID-19 response force, has concluded its mission in support of the Washington State Department of Agriculture. Since March of 2020, Washington National Guardsmen working in support of the COVID-19 response with Joint Task Force Steelhead supported 79 food banks and distribution centers across the state, providing 6.4 million meals and 98.7 million pounds of food. Read the full news release here.
