President Trump’s executive order barring citizens from seven Muslim-majority countries from entering the United States is as low as it gets. It scapegoats refugees fleeing war, terrorism and persecution. With one signature, this action undermined our American values and left countless in limbo – including green card holders, international students, and children.
The United States has always been a beacon for those seeking opportunity. We are a refuge for those seeking safety. And we do this regardless of religion or nationality.
Trump’s poorly thought out actions were reckless and wrong. We must stand together and make it clear that we do not support a President who undermines our values. I condemn this executive order and the message it sends to our friends around the world.
