— from Stephanie Conner for San Juan County Public Works–

Between a block and a hard place is sometimes not a bad spot to be in. Well at least that’s true at the Orcas Landing construction site this week. That is because all the necessary bedrock has been excavated to begin building the Main Wall extension.

Once the last stick of conduit is assembled and placed in the utility trench, which passes beneath 15 Redi-Rock® retaining blocks, the contractor (MCE) will prepare a level pad for the massive 5’ x 4’ base blocks that comprise the Main Wall foundation. After the base blocks are properly situated, each working day should see visible progress as the successive block courses are guided to their final resting place by the blocks beneath them!

And as always, thank you for everyone’s cooperation with any inconveniences that are the result of the Orcas Landing Marine Facility Improvement project.
