||| FROM TERI WILLIAMS for LAHARI |||

Lahari, an Orcas Island non-profit corporation (previously known as the “Circle of the Spirit” corporation), announces that it has requested and received WA State approval to dissolve the Lahari non-profit organization. The State also approved the plans approved by Lahari’s BOD, to distribute its remaining assets of circa $430,000 to the Orcas Island Lions Club Foundation which has agreed to manage and utilize former Lahari assets to support similar activities in supporting Orcas Island seniors, disabled individuals and to provide financial assistance to islanders desiring to become Caregivers (or to enhance their caregiving skills).

We appreciate the Orcas Island Lions Foundation taking on this role in addition to their other charitable projects. Over the years, Lahari has been involved in hospice care, undertaking safety assessments of senior homes (and providing assistance, if necessary, to improve the safety), caregiver training, providing an online portal to match caregivers and those needing care, and free on-island transportation for appointments, shopping or social activities. Many islanders volunteered to help us provide these services and we are forever grateful for the gift of their time.

I would also like to express Lahari’s gratitude to those who have volunteered to serve on our BOD.

Lahari Board of Directors

  • Don Webster, President
  • Teri Williams, Treasurer
  • Sally Coffin, Secretary
  • Mike Jonas, Vice President
