Kids from Kindergarten through high school are invited to join Ellen Wherrette and Mary Jane Elgin for a 3 day sculpture and pottery workshop next week.

The two ceramics artists will be “exploring our collective imaginations to create new worlds of wonder using all the basic elements of our own world! Students will create usable pottery, creatures, plants and sculptures inspired by our imaginations.”

The class will meet for three days of sculpturing in July, from Monday, July 25, Tues. the 26th and Thurs. the 28th, from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.Then there will be one more glazing class in August. Students may choose either Mon. the 15th or Tues. the 16th from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Students should bring a lunch. All clay and art supplies will be provided.

Ellen Wherrett and Mary Jane Elgin have taught children’s sculpture and ceramics classes and workshops for the last 30+ years. Currently they are both exhibiting at The Artworks Gallery.  Both Ellen and Mary Jane find inspiration in the fantastically free and fanciful ways that children create.

The workshop will be held at Mary Jane Ceramics, 474 North Beach Road #3 (in the back on Prune Ally across from the Trading Co.)

The cost is $100 for the four sessions with a $20 supply and firing fee, for a total of $120. Those interested may register at Mary Jane Ceramics.
