||| FROM LINDSAY JENNINGS for ORCAS ISLAND COMMUNITY FOUNDATION |||

As the daylight hours get shorter, I find myself looking for new sources of light. Light in the literal sense, with cozy fires and candles, or the metaphorical, with seasonal gatherings, gratitude, and giving back to our community. Here are two opportunities:

Lions Club Matching Grant

The Orcas Island Lions Club has established a $25,000 matching grant to support the Orcas Senior Center’s (OSC) renovation project. This grant is available for the month of November, so your contribution during this period will have double the impact. These critical improvements will help preserve the building, ensuring the center can continue to serve our island community.

The Lions Club is a strong supporter of the Senior Center’s vision to reconfigure parts of the building, creating additional space for social, recreational, and educational activities. Their partnership with the Orcas Senior Center has been long-standing, including collaboration on the mobility equipment program, diabetes awareness initiatives, and providing a bimonthly meeting space.

The Senior Center is a vital and active part of our community and we hope you join The Lions Club in supporting the building’s renovation. Donations can be made online to the Orcas Island Lions Senior Center Renovation Fund or you can mail or drop a check at the OICF office during the month of November. Thank you in advance for helping to create a stronger, more vibrant island community.
