“As a World and community, we are facing unforeseeable economic and environmental challenges. Do write-ins have an actual chance to win the seat if they should beat out all other opponents in votes? How does this work?
Just mailed in my ballot today – Friday. Came home and read this post. I wish Ms Kayl had come out earlier.
A write in for the primary has to get second place out of the 4 candidates and they will appear on the ballot in November. Very possible! Please be brave and give me the chance to represent you.
Mindy: Why could you not manage to file by the deadline? And what do you bring to this contest that the other candidates do not? Specifically, why does Rick Hughes not deserve another four years?
In answer to Andy’s questions. I only decided in July to run, that was past the filing date. I had been a supporter of Learner and his campaign, his platform. The real impact of Covid and the actions of our leadership have compelled me to run for council. This is my second time, I ran for council 10 years ago and have not stopped working for my community since. I will not attach Rick Hughes, he is my community member. Let me just say I think we need a new approach, there are unknown challenges ahead and I believe I am the right person to help our community come TOGETHER.
Also, I am sorry for any email confusion, my election website caused my email to derail. Please be patient.
Mindy, please contact me at mgedit@hotmail.com. I am working on an article this week for Orcas Issues to which I’d like each candidate to respond, and my initial email to you did in fact bounce back. Thanks
Mindy: I think you meant attack. I didn’t suggest that. That would be unproductive. Contrast is what I want. Specific examples from Rick’s eight year record and how you would approach (your word) things differently. As for Learner, how incredibly disappointing he did not let you know he was bailing after filling the space for more than six months. Running for office is hard. Thanks for going for it!
At least ask Rick to explain the Portland Fair scandal.
