By Eska Wilson, President, Orcas Center Board of Trustees
The Orcas Center Board of Trustees is pleased to announce that Kara O’Toole will become the Center’s next Executive/Artistic Director.
She will begin her new role at the Center’s Annual Meeting on Sunday, March 13. Kara will be moving to the Island with her partner and two boys aged 11 and 7. They are relocating from Seattle where she most recently served as the Executive Director for Velocity Dance Center, Seattle’s primary center for contemporary dance. She has served in major roles at nonprofit dance companies since 1992. She has many strong contacts with the art community in Seattle and will be a great asset to the Center and the Community.
Last year she was awarded the Mayor’s Arts Award for her role in the capital campaign and relocation of Velocity Dance Center.

Orcas Center is very fortunate to have gotten Kara. She was unanimously approved by all who she encountered during her grueling day long interview process. Hooray for us!
