Orcas High School senior Kailley Grantham, who is also a long-standing member of the Community Band and Islands Sinfonia, will present a live concert to benefit a Mission Trip planned by another senior studetn, this Friday, March 18.
The concert is from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Orcas Island Community Church on Madrona Street. Joining Kailley, who plays the flute, will be Stephen Baker (visiting home from Berklee School of Music in Boston), Marissa Veldman (who competed in Orcas Idol last year), Ron Myers (Kailley’s grandfather “as well as fabulous piano player”), and local high school students as well as Gregory Books and Judy Whiting performing some jazz pieces.
The concert is by donation, and there is no suggested donation. Kailley explains, “Proceeds will benefit the Mission trip to Chicago in April, so all donations will go towards that. Katrina Lindgren, who is in charge of setting up the Mission trip, will explain in general what we will be doing on the Mission trip towards the beginning of the concert.”

Fabulous!
Thank you to all who participated or attended for this event. It was a very rainy evening, the crowd was small, the hearts were big, and the music was inspirational! Highlights included, original music performed by Stephen Baker, a fabulous sax trio, and the “Boys” playing an awesome improve of jazz!
I am an old friend of Tammy’s. I have been thinking a lot of her lately. Last we chatted she was going through some hard times. If you can contact her please please give her my love and forward my information to her. My phone is 503-510-2581. Thank you.
