The New Old Time Chautauqua Circus

The New Old Time Chautauqua Circus returns to Orcas Island on July 27 & 28th! Chautauqua is a traveling circus that comes together once a year to provide education and fun for small communities. This year’s tour is AQUA CHAUTAUQUA, thus named because they will be arriving on Orcas Island in a caravan of boats, bringing with them juggling, magic, acrobats and comedy.

The fun will start on Tuesday July 28th at 11:30 a.m. with a parade beginning at the Funhouse traveling through Eastsound. The parade–to which all are invited to join–will be followed by workshops for kids and adults at the Funhouse from 12:00-3:00 p.m.

Workshops will include: juggling, hula hooping, acrobatics, samba rhythms, clowning, beginning aerial silk (at Orcas Center). Also in the workshops, you can create a mask or make quilts for local at-risk infants, bring musical instruments and tunes for the Song Swap, discuss Peak Oil or People’s History 101.

As a grand finale to their time on Orcas there will be an evening show, benefiting the Funhouse, on Tuesday July 28th at the Oddfellow’s Hall, at 7:00 p.m.
