First concert of series Saturday July 15 at 7:30 p.m. at Orcas Center

— from Jesse Boleyn —

American songwriter, recording artist and author, Jesse Boleyn is proud to host the 2017 Orcas Island Performing Arts Center summer concert series in beautiful Eastsound. Boleyn, along with special guest, Seattle blues master, Nick Vigarino, perform opening night on Saturday, July 15, 2017 at 7:30 pm.

Often considered the protege of multi-platinum selling musician Shawn Phillips, Boleyn will be performing many of his classics from four decades of music making with legendary Lou Reed and David Bowie guitarist, and 6 time Emmy award nominee, Chuck Hammer.

No strangers to the stage, both Boleyn and Vigarino have performed hundreds of concerts both nationally and internationally including Seattle’s celebrated venues, The Triple Door and Columbia City Theater. Experience an exciting, intimate evening of intelligent and daring songwriting and musicianship from both of these world class entertainers. (www.jesseboleyn.webs.com)

Boleyn is donating a large percentage of the proceeds to Kaleidoscope Childcare Center to assist the under-privileged kids in need with the help of Jim Connell. He says, “It is my intention to continue contributing to the most in need in our community.”

Boleyn adds, “I fell in love with Orcas Center three summers ago when I first came to the island, and been fortunate enough to have found a place to live from May thru November. Throughout my performing career around the world, a venue like yours has always been my favorite, about 200 seats. It allows for a very intimate connection between myself and an audience. And I like that the best.

“The idea of contributing in some way occurred to me early on, although I wasn’t sure what direction it would appear to take. Good things take time. Then the idea to share truly wonderful performers with the community appeared. So, here we are! I am looking forward to this year to bringing some friends to the island who are truly world class songwriters and performers suitable for all ages.

“Most of all, I am going to have a lot of fun by also involving members of the artistic community. I have a few surprises up my sleeve.”
