Jennifer Swanson is ready for the work

Jennifer Swanson

Since February, I’ve been on the campaign trail, meeting people across our island county. I’ve been blown away by the passion residents have for this place and their commitment to its future.

In conversation after conversation, I’ve been reminded of how much we share: a deep love for our community and a desire to see it thrive, even when we have different perspectives on the challenges we face.

I’ve often heard, “Thank you for running,” or “I know I couldn’t do that job. I’m glad people like you are willing to run for office.” Those words have stayed with me. Thank you to everyone who emailed, called, attended a meet and greet or forum, or sat down with me to talk about our community.

I’m also grateful for all the ways people show up for our community: supporting affordable housing, feeding our neighbors, stewarding our land, providing medical care, running small businesses, and serving on advisory committees and elected boards. This is the local work that holds our community together and strengthens our democracy.

Running countywide has filled me with awe and gratitude for the people who make San Juan County such a unique and wonderful place. This campaign has introduced me to people I might never have met otherwise and deepened my appreciation for all that we accomplish together.

This campaign has strengthened my commitment to our community and sharpened my focus on what matters most. I’m ready for the hard work ahead and hope I’ve earned your vote.
